Meet Moline's Hometown Handyman

Meet your local Moline Handyman, Joe Brems. Joe owns and operates Quad Cities Handyman. He is originally from Milan, Il, and moved to Moline with his father in 1990. Joe joined the Army after graduating from Moline High School and has traveled for several years for work, but, for over 30 years he has called Moline his home. Joe lives in Moline with his son, daughter, and partner, Lesley, who works for the Moline School District. His son enjoys participating in karate at Jai Johnson's Karate Center and youth sports at the Two Rivers YMCA. His daughter loves dancing at Academy For The Performing Arts and tumbling at Elite Athletics QC. Joe loves to scuba dive and received his first scuba diver certification when he was fifteen. He is now a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and Emergency First Responder Instructor. Joe also enjoys spending time outside with his family swimming, hiking, geocaching, and biking. "My son loves to go mountain biking on Sylvan Island, here in Moline. It's like our own hidden playground, so close to home!" he added.

When Joe was younger, he spent time working for his friend's dad, who was a general contractor. This role provided Joe with experience building custom homes from the ground up. Joe also spent time working under a master carpenter with over fifty years of experience and quickly found himself moving up the ranks in the building industry. Within five years, Joe was overseeing his first major project at a ski resort in Colorado. A few years later he began his career as a Construction Project Manager and in 2012, he obtained his Home Inspector Certification from the Professional Home Inspection Institute, followed by the Certified Master Inspector (CMI) designation from the Master Inspector Certification Board.

We asked Joe what led him to start his business and he said, "When I was doing home Inspections I could see a need for a professional handyman in the Quad Cities area. After nearly every inspection I was often asked for recommendations for someone to repair the deficiencies identified in the inspection report. Most of these items were too small for contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc. According to the state's standards, if I gave a recommendation I would have to provide three contacts to choose from. I Didn't know any handymen that were professional, dependable, and experienced enough for me to recommend to my clients. After some self-reflection, I realized that I missed working with my hands and tools, problem-solving, and physically repairing problems for homeowners. I decided to make a change, put my tool belt back on, and provide a professional service to my Moline community and the Quad Cities area! I love helping people and this job allows me to do that, by utilizing my home construction knowledge as well as my customer service skills and teaching experience."

Joe shared about what sets Quad Cities Handyman apart from other handyman companies, saying "My customer service is second to none, and I am committed to providing service that goes well beyond the physical repairs. I am available for my clients before, during, and after their service and seek to be their go-to for any home-related questions and repairs for life. My process is client-friendly, convenient, streamlined, and valuable for everyone. I understand that we all have busy lives and I try to make things as easy as possible, from online scheduling to convenient payment options to customized online client dashboards containing all of their paperwork and communication - one click from their phone for everything. Also, my 30-plus years of hands-on experience and knowledge of construction sets me apart because not only do I understand what I'm repairing and how things should be done, it allows me to communicate effectively with my clients."

Hey Joe 😎

I’m looking forward to your solving my home care needs, especially building a finished closet in my middle bedroom,, repairing/installing a light fixture in my bedroom close, and. fixing the water pipe under the deck as it exits the house..

Withdrawn from my projects list is to install a light fixture in my middle bedroom close.t. While standing in the closet close to the rear; I instinctively reached for the light socke/pull cord that is on the left side of the door as you ente. When I requested installation; I only considered that there was no light switch on the right side as one enters the closet😎.
